Reiki at the Chestnut Hill Therapy Collective

Reiki in Chestnut Hill

Take time to slow down, rest, and reconnect with yourself. Reiki is a gentle wellness practice in which a practitioner places their hands lightly on or just above the body while you remain fully clothed. You can choose whether you’re comfortable with touch, and you can ask questions or pause at any time.

What is Reiki?

Reiki originated in Japan. Its name is often translated as “universal life energy,” reflecting the tradition’s belief that a practitioner can offer supportive energy through their hands. People understand Reiki in different ways: for some, it is a spiritual practice; for others, it is simply a chance to be still and receive care. You do not need to hold any particular belief to participate.

Reiki does not involve massage or physical manipulation. The practitioner may hold their hands over different areas of the body, either with light touch or without touching you. You remain in control of your comfort and can request a change at any point.

What happens during a session?

You may lie on a treatment table or sit comfortably while the practitioner moves through a series of hand positions. There is nothing you need to do or achieve. Some people notice warmth or a sense of calm; others simply enjoy the chance to rest. Every experience is different.

People come to Reiki for relaxation, reflection, or a quiet break from a demanding week. If closing your eyes, lying down, or focusing on your body feels uncomfortable, let your practitioner know. The session can be adjusted to help you feel at ease.

Reiki and clinical care

Reiki sessions at Chestnut Hill Therapy Collective are wellness services, not psychotherapy or medical treatment. A Reiki session does not include mental health assessment, diagnosis, counseling, or treatment of a medical condition. Reiki has not been established as a treatment for physical or mental health conditions, and results cannot be guaranteed.

Reiki can be used alongside the care you receive from your therapist or healthcare provider. It should not replace that care, and you should continue any prescribed treatment unless you and your healthcare provider decide otherwise.
