Asher’s Specialty Areas
I’m a United States Veteran working with adults, couples, and families impacted by religious or spiritual abuse, trauma related to authority or institutions, PTSD, anxiety, and depression. Many clients come from rigid or controlling environments and feel disconnected after long-term stress or moral injury. I help people question harmful belief systems, recover from shame-based dynamics, and rebuild identity, boundaries, and emotional safety. I provide therapy in Philadelphia and Chestnut Hill.
Asher’s Therapy Approaches
My therapy approach is collaborative, paced, and grounded in safety and respect. I integrate CBT, DBT, mindfulness, and psychodynamic work to help clients understand how past experiences shape current patterns, while also building practical tools for emotional regulation, clearer boundaries, and healthier relationships in daily life. I understand how long-term stress, moral injury, or harmful systems can leave you feeling unheard, disconnected, or stuck. Therapy offers a space to make sense of your experiences, develop a steadier relationship with your emotions, and move toward a life that feels more grounded, self-directed, and aligned with your values.
Asher’s Training & Experience
Asher earned his bachelor’s degree with high honors from Chestnut Hill College and completed his master’s degree with high honors as well. He has over 20 years of experience in the mental health field and previously served as a clinician with the New Jersey Department of Corrections, where he worked with individuals facing complex trauma, chronic stress, and the psychological impact of institutional environments.
His background equips him to work comfortably with high-acuity, long-standing, and complex clinical concerns. Asher brings a steady, grounded presence to his work and is experienced in supporting clients whose lives have been shaped by trauma, authority, and systems that made it difficult to feel safe, seen, or understood.
